Plain terms for a free app with no accounts and no purchases. Using Quraan Made Easy means you accept them.

The app
Quraan Made Easy is provided free of charge by maze (mazetech.co.za), South Africa. There are no accounts, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no adverts.
Content and rights
The English translation is Quraan Made Easy, originally translated under the supervision of Mufti Afzal Hoosen Elias, and is used with the permission of the rights holder. The Arabic mushaf pages, the translation text, the surah summaries, the recitations and the app's own design and code remain the property of their respective owners.
The Arabic Quraan text is the Tanzil Project's Uthmani edition, copyright © 2007–2021 Tanzil Project, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 licence. Updates to that text are published at tanzil.net. The mushaf pages are the 13-line mushaf published by Waterval Islamic Institute.
The Arabic recitations are redistributed from openly available Quraan audio libraries, and the copyright in each recording stays with the reciter. We gratefully acknowledge:
- Al Ameen Islamic Audio Library, Pietermaritzburg, for the recitation of Qari Ayoob Essack. Published unaltered, and the app is free, as their terms require.
- Al Quran Cloud and the Islamic Network (alquran.cloud), for the remaining Arabic recitations.
The English narration of the translation and the spoken surah summaries were produced for this app.
If you are a reciter, or you act for one, and you would rather your recitation was not included, tell us and we will remove it. We acknowledge such requests within two business days and take the audio down in the next release, without asking you to justify the request.
You may use the app for personal, non-commercial reading and study. You may not extract, redistribute, republish or resell the translation, the mushaf page images, the summaries or the audio, whether in whole or in part, without written permission from the rights holder.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the app, except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded
- Use the app in any way that infringes the rights of others or breaks the law
- Attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to any service the app relies on
Availability
We provide the app on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Reciter audio is downloaded from a content delivery network, which may slow down or become unavailable. We may update, change or discontinue the app or any feature at any time, including removing a recitation if its rights holder asks us to.
Accuracy
Great care has been taken with the Quraanic text, the translation and the summaries. Even so, errors are possible. Nothing in the app should be treated as a substitute for a printed mushaf or for qualified scholarly guidance. If you spot a mistake, please tell us so it can be reviewed and corrected.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, maze is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, including loss of bookmarks or downloaded audio. Because the app stores everything on your device and nothing on our servers, you are responsible for your own device backups. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Privacy
How the app handles data is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction. If you use the app elsewhere, you are responsible for complying with your local law.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised terms.
